Escalante Cabins & RV ParkWhen the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument was declared in 1996, an entrepreneur came to Escalante and bought the land that is now Escalante Cabins & RV Park. He began construction of a RV Park, but failed to complete the work and abandoned the project unfinished. For two decades, the unfinished site was an eyesore that greeted travelers on Scenic Byway 12 as they entered Escalante. In 2016 Steve & Jenae had a vision of what this property could be and pursued purchase of the acreage for rental cabins, RV sites, and a tent camping area. After receiving the blessing of local authorities, they worked through the summer of 2016 to complete 27 RV sites, tent sites, and bathroom facilities. By the fall the park was open and ready to greet & serve the traveling public. The park started with 1 cabin, and in the years since, they have added 3 more cabins and 2 vacation houses. Each year they have been able to expand and provide more facilities. The construction of the main building and the addition of landscape decor and plantings has created a much more visually appealing entrance to Escalante!
