Tipi

Our tipis (spelled the way the natives spelled it) were made by the Nomadic Tipi builders. They are authentic Sioux-style tipis and are set up just as they were hundreds of years ago, using the exact same procedures. Stepping through the door will bring you back in time and allow you to experience some of the aspects of this unique nomadic culture of the Great Plains Indians many moons ago. Tipis were constructed so that the plains indians could move from place to place and not have to rebuild their homes...they carried them with them. Within hours a community could be broken down and ready to move to where the food sources were more plentiful. When a new location was found, the tipis would be raised again with little effort. What could be more fun than sitting together in a pow-wow with your friends and family, in a tipi, under the stars! The MATO Tipi is the Bear Tipi (Mato means Bear in Lakota Sioux). Uniquely painted exterior design with the symbol of the bear, also native to Big South Fork. Amenities Include: * Critter barrier to keep animals and insects from entering under the tipi base * Three Full-sized mattresses with 6" Memory Foam Mattress * Overhead Solar Lighting * Interior "Firefly" string lights around the tipi poles (battery operated - multiple light settings) * Rain cap to keep the rain from getting into the smoke hole * Rain Flaps to keep rain from getting into the air way * Interior liner to capture heat and keep the tipi cool at night * Picnic table * Outside Fire pit * "Buddy Heater" available to rent ($10) for heat

Covered Wagon

Covered wagons helped push the American frontier all the way to the Pacific Ocean, but for western trails the Conestoga wagon morphed into the prairie schooner. The Conestoga wagon originated near the Conestoga River in southeastern Pennsylvania. The wagon body's unique curved shape jostled items together and prevented cargo from tumbling like tenpins on slopes. Huge, broad wheels glided over rough patches. But Conestoga wagons weren't just practical brutes; they were beautiful. The Conestoga wagon era abruptly ended in the 1850's, when railroads came. True West Campground has brought them back to life with the making of West Glam Frontier! Take a step back in time and stay in a covered wagon. Our wagons are a bit more comfortable than those that were used in the 1800's, but the nostalgia of the western times is sure to make your stay both memorable and unique. Amenities Include * One King bed w/8" Memory Foam Mattress * Two twin beds w/8" Memory Foam Mattress * Pillows and Bedding included * Dinning Table with 4 chairs * USB Ports for phone chargers * Heat and A/C * Refrigerator * Microwave * Coffee Maker for ground coffee or K-cups * Picnic table * Outside Fire pit

Rules & Regulations

Our rules are few and we appreciate your cooperation in helping to make a better campground that is enjoyable to everyone. No one likes rules, but they are made for a reason. It is to keep everyone and every thing safe. Please respect our requests.

Common sense and courtesy PLEASE - this is our back yard you are sharing with me, my family and my animals.

We are pet friendly, in order to stay that way, the rules below must be adhered to:

If you brought your dog(s) you MUST pick up after them. Nobody likes to stay in a site where dogs doo the things they doo and they find it unexpectedly. Please be courteous to all and clean up after them. You may walk them on the front lawn and if they doo there is a bucket and scooper available for your use. Doo use it. Your site will be clean of doo when you arrive and we expect it to be clean of doo when you leave. If we have to pick up after your dog after you leave, there will be a cleaning fee charged. .

No pets in the common areas during events (includes pot lucks and other meals)

Pets MUST be on a leash at all times - which includes the trails. You will be riding both private as well as National Park Trails and rules in both areas state that dogs must be on leash.

This is for the courtesy and SAFETY of ALL.

Dog rules will be STRICTLY enforced.

Our beloved Kimba was killed by a camper's dog that was left off leash and roaming the campground.

It didn't have to happen.

Please be courteous and leave the site as you found it. We work hard to provide you with a clean campground and clean sites - the easier you make it for us, the less time we spend cleaning up and the more time we can spend making improvements.

There are only two places we like to see butts; in the saddle or in an ashtray. We never like to see either on the ground. If you have not brought an ashtray, either ask for one, or use an empty can. The campsites were butt free when you arrived, let's try to keep them that way.

Please do not burn trash in the fire pits!! They are for campfire wood, charcoal and paper only. Items such as tin cans, plastic, bottles, Styrofoam and food do NOT blend well with the environment. We use the ash in the firepits to fertilize the grounds and burning trash prevents us from doing this. Please help us be "Green" and adhere to this simple rule. We pick up your trash for you so please dispose of it properly.

Please do not move the stones for the firepits. This is SANDstone and it cracks easily. Moving it will break it. They are not wheel chucks, or logs for splitting wood. They are meant to contain the fire only.

Please do not leave your trash out at night - see our free services below.

Horses are not allowed in the camping areas for SAFETY reasons. Please adhere to this very important rule.

For the purpose of safety and space, only ONE truck/car and ONE trailer can be parked on each site. If you have extra vehicles or trailers, please see the front office for additional parking requests.

If you have come to visit beautiful Big South Fork, please know that they have rules of their own. We do not have control over the rules of the park; they are enforced by the Park Rangers. Please familiarize yourself with them to avoid unexpected issues. Laws & Policies in Big South Fork - Active Alerts Alerts & Conditions in Big South Fork

We surely do appreciate your cooperation in following our few but simple rules. It makes things so much easier and more pleasant for everyone. Thank you!!

STRETCHING THE HOURS AND EXTENDING YOUR STAY

Priority Check-in - If you would like to come early, you can take advantage of our Priority Check-in service for an additional fee of $4/hr for campsites and $6/hr for lodging facilities for each hour prior to the official check-in time. If this option appeals to you, YOU MUST LET US KNOW AT LEAST ONE DAY IN ADVANCE so we can confirm that your site is available for this option.

Stay and Play Package - Should your stay go by too quickly, we have two options for you to extend your time here! PLEASE CHECK WITH THE OFFICE FIRST before taking advantage of these options.

First Option: Guests are welcome to extend their stay past the 11:00 am check out time for $4/hour for campsites and $6 for lodging facilities. This will allow you to "Stay" on your site for an extended time while you "play" out on the trails one last time before heading home. This option is subject to site/lodging availability and must be arranged prior to the 11:00 am check out time. This option is for SITE only and does not include stalls. Stalls must be vacated to allow for clean-up. When you return, you can untack at the hitching rails and use the wash stations and other amenities prior to loading up to head home.

Second Option: Guests are welcome to extend their stay past the 11:00am check out time for FREE if they vacate their site and stalls and park the trailer up by the office. With this option you are riding as a day rider. This option must be arranged prior to the 11:00 am check out time. This option does not include stalls. Stalls must be vacated to allow for clean-up. When you return, you can untack at the hitching rails and use the wash stations and other amenities prior to loading up to head home.

COMPLIMENTARY CONCIERGE SERVICES

Buy now, Pay Later - As a convenience to you, while you are our guest we will start a customer tab for the items you need or want during your stay. Ice, wood, gift items, etc. All we need is a credit card on file (in case you forget to pay before you leave) and then, as you need things, or as you select gift items from the store, we will put it on your tab. All we ask is that you settle up with us the evening before your departure.

Temporarily Unavailable - Trash Pickup - We do not have trash barrels in the campground because it keeps the critters away. If you have trash, put it in the back of your trailer at night, but then in the morning, leave it out by the FRONT of your site BEFORE NOON. We will pick it up for you and bring it to the dumpster. Please do not throw food and trash in the campfire pits. We recycle/compost the ash to fertilize the grounds and food in the fire pits will also attract the unwanted critters.

Delivery Service - Need firewood? Swing by the office and let us know your site

number. We will deliver it.

Horse Care - Not riding today? Going for a hike or a day trip to Nashville? Let us know and we'll check on your horses for you while you are out. Water, hay, feed - let us know what they need and we'll take care of them for the day.

Trailer Cleaning - When you arrive we do our best to help you unload your tack and supplies to your stalls and will clean out the back of your trailer when possible. This provides a cleaner environment down by the sites and a clean trailer for the ride home. Not to mention the fact that the sooner you're unloaded, the sooner you can start your vacation! And that's what counts!

Night time Check up - Your horses are just as important to us as you are. We know you are tired from a full day out on the trails. So after your last round of taking care of the horses, we'll go out to the barn and check on them too. We'll make sure they are comfortable and no one is in distress, all locks are on correctly, and if your horse has gotten out - we'll get him back in! You can sleep soundly knowing your horse is comfortably tucked into his stall for the night.
