Location: we are located in Kernville, just 5 to 8 minutes walk from the Kern River, next door to the Kern River Brewing Company, across from the Sierra Gateway Market, and up the street from Pizza Barn and the Kern River Fly Shop. We are 1 hour from the Trail of 100 Giants in the Sequoia National Park (the Trail is CLOSED November – Memorial Day in May).
Our rooms vary between Mountain and Pool Views. Most stores and restaurants are either next door, down the street, or over the bridge (5 to 8 minutes walk).
Weather: we are located in high desert country. Even though we are in the mountains, the Kern River Valley is usually warmer than you expect (except during winter months). You can check the weekly forecast for Kernville here.

Policies
There will be a charge for 1 night’s stay if cancelled within 3 days of arrival. Reservations made the day of arrival have until 6pm to cancel without charge. Reservations made 2 days before the day of arrival have 24 hours to cancel without charge. Holiday Weekends(Memorial Day, Labor Day, etc.), Group Bookings, Special Events, or Event Weekends (Whiskey Flat Days, Rod Run, etc.) are subject to charges of 1 night’s stay for each room cancelled if cancelled less than 10 calendar days prior to the arrival date. These charges will not be credited back.
No Show: failure to contact The Kern Lodge will result in a no show charge. This could result in 1 full days’ charge, or the entire stay depending on the circumstances.
Early Checkouts: no refunds for early checkouts.
All rates are subject to Local and State taxes.
Rules & regulations
Check in time begins at 3pm. Check out time is 11am.
Cancellations must be made at least 48 hours in advance of arrival. Our Guest House requires 7 days notice of cancellation.
We are a non-smoking establishment.
We do not accept pets.
We forbid carrying weapons on our business premises. Concealed Weapons License FAQs for State of Idaho: “May I carry a concealed weapon in private businesses that are open to the public? Yes, unless the private business, which is open to the public forbids carrying weapons on the business premises. Private businesses are within their rights to prohibit weapons on their property. State of Idaho Gun Laws
If you are making an online reservation after 9pm for the current day, please call to confirm.
A 10% non-refundable deposit will be charged to your credit card when you make an online reservation.
This amount will be credited toward your total room charges.
Reservations must be secured with a valid credit card that may be pre-authorized for your first night’s stay.
Registered guests must be at least 21 years old. Valid photo identification is required upon check-in.
No Smoking: we are completely NON-SMOKING; However, should you need to smoke, please do so in the Park Area. We do not allow any kind of smoking in the rooms (cigarettes, vaping, etc). Violators are subject to a penalty fee of up to $150.
Gift Certificates: can be purchased by contacting the Front Office. After purchase, you may pick up the certificate(s) in person or request that it be mailed to you (within the United States only). Gift Certificates are non-refundable and cannot be used for sold-out weekends/holiday weekends/Whiskey Flat Days.
Lost & Found: please contact the Front Desk if you believe you have misplaced an item(s). Give detailed description of the item(s), your name, what room you stayed in and when, as well as the location you think the item(s) may be found.
Note: we keep items for up to a month. If not claimed before then, items will be forfeited. Items can be picked up from our Front Desk. There is a post office fee + $10 that is required to send packages in the mail.
