A-FRAME ACCESS

Each A-frame is tucked into the hillside, meaning getting to them is a little bit of an adventure to trek to. But that’s why you’re here, right?! We recommend packing light. Please refer to the map in the photos to see the specific location of the A-frame you are looking to book.

COMMUNAL AMMENITIES (All Shared)

HILLSIDE BATHROOM: 2 private stalls: Toilet + Vanity

SHOWER HOUSE: 4 private stalls: Shower + Toilet + Vanity *Dr.Bronner’s body wash will be provided in each shower

KITCHEN: Equipment: 4 burner range + convection oven + refrigerator + freezer + toaster + kettle + pour over cones, Tools: pots and pans + bakeware + measuring tools +cooking utensils + colander + can opener + wine opener, Pantry: olive oil + salt + pepper, Smoker: Check in with your host to get the smoker going during your stay if fire conditions allow!

SAUNA + OUTDOOR SHOWER: It is officially sauna season! We think one of the best ways to enjoy winter is sharing an evening warming up in a sauna with new friends. If you choose to enjoy the sauna during your stay, please be mindful of your body and hydration level. Do not stay in sauna over 20 minutes at a time. Enjoy the sauna at your own risk. The outdoor shower is not heated. It is intended for a quick refreshing rinse off, whether to cool down after the sauna or kick off your day with a rejuvenating start! We ask that guests clean up after themselves in the communal spaces during their stay. Allowing all guests to have access to a clean and welcoming space!

GUEST ACCESS

THE PROPERTY: You are entering a wild place, we ask that you treat it with respect and awareness both for your safety and the wellbeing of the land. Please be honest with yourself, if the possibility of seeing some of our natural residents such as spiders, scorpions, and snakes would be a serious stress to you, we might not be the place for you. Guests will have access to all 44 acres of land. There are rustic, hilly trails that run throughout the property. We ask that you stay on trails as often as possible to minimize impact on the native flora and fauna and to maximize your safety.

PRIVATE AREAS: Please respect the Host's residence, as well as those of your fellow travelers. At this time the barn/garage and RV are not accessible to guests.

OTHER THINGS TO NOTE

WI-FI: The Charmadillo is a place to ground into the beautiful location, drop into self and authentically connect to others. To support this, Wi-Fi can only be found in the communal kitchen at this time. Cell service is minimal in the valley where the kitchen/shower house is located, but rather strong on the hillside where the A-frames are located.

21+: Due to the communal nature of The Charmadillo, and the risks present, we kindly ask that you don't book for yourself or others who are under 21 years old.

VEHICLES: Please park in the designated parking area. Please do not off-road anywhere on the property.

DOGS: Dogs on the other hand, are allowed! If you choose to bring your pup please read over the House Rules and let your host know they will be joining you. We ask that leashes are used at all times outside of the unit, in order to minimize the impact on native species as well as minimize disturbing your fellow guests who are less comfortable with dogs. The magic of this place is the quiet and tranquility, we ask that you be honest with yourself about how your dog would fit into this space

EVENTS: We are available for buyouts of the entire property for your event! With more amenities in the works to serve groups and various events in the future! Please message us (Contact Host) for more details/availability.

FIRST AID KIT and SAFETY: A basic first aid kit can be found in the communal kitchen cabinets. Smoke detectors are installed in each unit. A fire extinguisher and fire blanket are located in the kitchen. Additionally a fire suppression system has been installed over the range in the kitchen. The Center Point Volunteer Fire Department is 10 minutes away. The nearest hospital is approximately 25 minutes away in Kerrville.

FIRE: Due the fire risk of our region as well as the remote nature of our space, we take fire risk very seriously. We ask that you do not build fires during your stay in any part of the property. If conditions allow the host may bring out a fire pit for all to enjoy. Please do not start the smoker or the sauna yourself, let your host know when you would like to use them and she will start them for you. Additionally we ask that there is no candle burning in your unit.

HUNTING: No hunting is allowed during your stay.

COUNTRY LIFE

THE ETHOS: We have a deep respect for the land we are living upon and the living creatures we are sharing it with. To us, this means being respectful of the animals and plants, being mindful of our water and energy usage and furthering our education of our environment as a way to show her love and respect.

DARK SKY: We are so incredibly lucky to have a beautiful dark night sky above us! In our opinion it's one of the most magical parts of this property. In order to maximize the magic, we ask that porch light are turned off as often as possible and provided flashlights are used on their third warmest setting.

CRITTERS: The Charmadillo is a chemical-free environment, meaning there is a chance you will encounter an unwanted guest in your space. We provide a natural cedar oil + peppermint oil spray that will stop these little creatures in their tracks. Its a good practice to give your space a look over in all the nooks and crannies and keep a mindful eye on the ground as you explore the property.

WATER: Our wonderful aquifer would greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness when it comes to your water use during your stay. The choice to have communal restrooms with Water Sense fixtures was intentional to be mindful of our water use in this drought impacted region.

SEPTIC: We are on a septic system, we ask you to please be mindful of drains. Anything other than toilet paper is not to be flushed in toilets, this includes paper towels. We ask that coffee grounds or other solids should be thrown in trash and not dumped down drains.

RECYCLING: At this point this part of the region (outside of city limits) does not have access to recycling. Be aware of this when you choose to bring cans and bottles. We would appreciate if you would consider a pack in pack out approach.

LIABILITY WAIVER:

The Charmadillo provides you with a unique opportunity to stay and explore a natural, rustic piece of Hill Country property. With that comes potential risks which includes but is not limited to uneven terrain, hilly rustic trails, barbed wire fence lines, native plants and animals and dim lighting. If you choose to imbibe in alcohol during your visit it may amplify these risks. We want you to take advantage of what this property has to offer and have a memorable visit. By agreeing to our Airbnb House Rules, you acknowledge the potential risks and agree to and accept full responsibility for any bodily injury that may occur to you and others in your party, and waive any claim against the owners for accidents or claims arising from these activities.

By choosing to bring your dog to The Charmadillo and by agreeing to our Airbnb House Rules you are voluntarily assuming all risks, loss, damages, or injury that may be sustained to persons, animals, or property in connection with your animal.

**Thank you for taking the time to read through this! Now we can get back to what matters, like watching butterflies and soaking in the dark night sky. Hope to share it with y'all soon.*

First off I feel Sarah has done an amazing job and thought of everything to make The Charmadillo be everything you want and need it to be. You can completely be to yourself, or come down to the fire pit and communal areas and get to know the other people staying on property. There is Wifi but only in the kitchen and game area. Something I was completely fine with since i was wanting to unpluf from the outside world. It is a little slice of heaven coming here where life is simple and you dont have the hustle and bustle and noises that usually come from living anywhere populated. I truely loved my 3 days in Cabin 7 with my dog Hazel. Which was welcomed with open arms. We loved going to walks in the mornings and evening exploring the property. Sarah was a super host who was very easy to talk to and get a hold of for any and all questions. The Charmadillo will not disappoint! Hazel and I cant wait to go back!
