FAQ's

1. How many domes are there?

There are 4 domes total. We have 2 domes that accommodate 4 people (2 queen beds), & 2 domes that accommodate 2 people (1 queen bed).

2. Where exactly are you located?

We are within the Terlingua Ranch. Our address is an Alpine address, but we are ~50 miles south of the city of Alpine. We are ~25 miles north of Terlingua/Study Butte.

Note Nearest Gasoline & Groceries are in the town areas. Be sure to get your goodies & fuel up while in Alpine or Terlingua. The Little Burro convenience store is ~3 miles from us. We are 3 miles off highway 118 on a private dirt road.

Note There is NO CELL SIGNAL in our area. Please make sure to pre-load your navigation & take screenshots. We recommend using Google Maps (Not Apple maps) for accurate directions to our location.

3. How close are you to Big Bend National Park?

We are located ~40 minutes north of the Park entrance. Note, it is a very large park. Getting to the Chisos mountains range or Santa Elena canyon from our location takes ~ an hour. Getting to the Hot Springs from StarStruck takes ~1.5 hours.

4. What unique Amenities do you offer?

Each dome has a private outdoor kitchen setup with a sink & grill, & an interior mini-fridge, blender, coffee maker & toaster. Each dome has a telescope for stargazing & touch-on fire pits to gather around. Each dome has an interior en suite bathroom. We are fully off the grid & powered by solar.

5. Are there restaurants near you?

We are in a remote & rural setting. Most restaurants are 30 minutes south of us in Terlingua Ghosttown or 60 minutes north of us in Alpine. Each dome is outfitted with a private outdoor kitchen. Additionally, the Little Burro convenience store is ~3 miles from us.

6. Where should we fly in?

If you are coming from out of state the 2 closest public airports are El Paso ~4.5 hours away & Midland/Odessa ~3 hours away. We recommend comparing costs to decide which works best for you. When renting a vehicle we recommend getting a 4x4. We are located 3 miles off the pavement on dirt roads. 4x4 is NOT required, but helpful especially for exploring the parks too.

7. Are Pets allowed?

As of 4/19/2024 Dogs are allowed in Domes 1 & 2 for $65 per day. Domes 3 & 4 are not Pet Friendly.
Please keep in mind, that Big Bend National Park has NO dog-friendly hikes at all. There is no kennel service outside the park.
RULES: Dogs only (no cats), clean up after dog, keep leashed when outside, never leave unattended in rooms, damages will be charged, non-registered pets incur a $250 fee

8. How far apart are the domes?

They are spaced out ~200 feet from each other.

9. What's the difference between the domes?

There are two different size domes. The couple domes accommodate 2 people, while the quad domes accommodate 4 people. The only other difference is the styling. The floor plan & amenities are identical at every dome. They all have interior tiled bathrooms with a walk-in shower, flush toilet & vanity, as well as private outdoor space.
