Ohai’ula Beach at Spencer Beach Park is an excellent sandy beach that is popular with families. It is located just north of Mauna Kea Resort and ten miles downhill and west of Waimea.
Spencer Beach Park is a county-operated park that includes the popular swimming beach and many other amenities. Lifeguards are staffed on weekends and holidays from 9:30am to 4:45pm. Sunbathers can usually find a spot on the beach, but it is popular on sunny weekends. Grass lawns are maintained for those who just want to relax in the park away from the sand. Large trees throughout the park and behind the beach help save on sunscreen. Picnic tables are provided throughout the park near the beach and in the grassy areas.

House rules for a happy stay
Policies
Individuals can request for a refund as long as it is at least 15 days prior to the camping reservation date. Upon approval, the refunded amount will be issued directly to the purchasing credit card if the request was submitted within 40 days from the initial purchase date. Otherwise, a paper check will be mailed to you within 6-8 weeks. Refund requests less than 15 days must be attached to the applicant's permit copy and submitted within one working day prior to the camping reservation date. The refund must be a minimum of $5.00. All refunds will be less the online service provider's processing fees.
Rules & regulations
Gate closes at 8pm and reopens at 7am. No entry or exit after 8pm. Campers will only be allowed to exit, with no re-entry, after 8pm for emergencies (medical, disasters, hazardous conditions, unforeseen circumstances, etc.).
Security guard on duty from 630pm to 630am daily.
Alcohol NOT allowed.
No camping in pavilions. Pavilion permits are available for day use only and needs to be purchased separately.
Please note if you have a camping permit the day before a monthly beach cleaning closure you will need to be out of the beach park by 8:00am the morning of the closure.
The use of electrical cords are not allowed to be used from the pavilion to campsites around the park.
No animals/pets.
No open fires.
No smoking.
No commercial activities.
No alcoholic beverages.
No littering/dumping.
No removal of sand, rocks, or plants.
