Policies
Our campground is near capacity year-round and your reservation likely means we have had to turn other guests away. Cancellations made more than 48 hours prior to arrival will incur a cancellation fee of $25 plus 10% of the reservation total, and an additional *10% of the total cancellation fee. There is no refund for cancellations made less than 48 hours prior to the arrival date or for an early departure.

Park guests are responsible for knowing and complying with the rules and regulations and Santee Lakes. A complete list of the Santee Lakes Rules and Regulations is available at the Park Office during business hours or from our website santeelakes.com.
Park Office Hours: The Park Office hours are 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM daily.
CHECK-IN/CHECK-OUT
Cabins Check-In: 3:30 PM
Cabins Check-Out: 10:30 AM
Camping Check-In: 1:00 PM
Camping Check-Out: 12:00 PM
Cabins/campground guests must vacate the campground by the check-out times listed above in order to avoid payment of additional fees for late departures.
CAMPGROUND GUESTS
All guests of registered campers must park their vehicles in designated guest areas, and must leave the Park by 10:00 PM. Camper guests must pay regular Day-Use parking/entrance fee. Registered campers may choose to pay for visitors as guests of their campsite so they may enjoy all the Campground facilities. Parking pass must be displayed. Registered campers are responsible for the actions and behavior of their guests and/or visitors while in the Park. The maximum number of people, camping and/or visiting, shall not exceed six people per campsite at any time.
CAMPING UNITS & SITES
All campsites at Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve are limited to one Camping Unit and a maximum of six people per site. A Camping Unit is defined as a motorized RV, towable RV, truck camper or tent. Removing a truck camper shell is not permitted unless the trick camper shell is equipped with a device designed and manufactured to be used and occupied while not affixed to the bed or chassis of a pickup truck. Campsites with towable RVs must have a tow vehicle. All Camping Units must have RVIA or Department of Housing certifications, current registration and licensing. The Camping Unit must be positioned on the designated campsite appropriately so that the utility hook ups are located on the correct side. Back-in sites require the RV to back up into them. RV campsites can be "pull-through" sites, which are those that the driver can enter from one end and exit from the other. "Pull-in" sites require the RV to enter straight in for entry, and to exit in reverse. A camping unit not properly positioned on the campsite will be required to move and reposition appropriately. All RVs staying on asphalt campsites must position blocks on the ground before lowering levelers. Camping Units will be denied camping privileges based on unsightly appearance. All campsites must have a tow vehicle on site. Sleeping outdoors in the campground is not permitted. No sleeping in vehicles other than defined Camping Unit.
CAMPSITE CLEANLINESS
Campsite cleanliness is required for aesthetic, sanitary and safety purposes. Campers must place all trash in one of the trash receptacles located throughout the Campground. All personal items are to be kept inside of ones Camping Unit. Clotheslines are not permitted to be strung between campsites, trees, etc. Items that are prohibited outside the Camping Unit include but are not limited to: furniture, toys, storage containers, off-road vehicles, plants, refrigerators/freezers, debris, televisions, tarps, homemade canopies, trash, tools, excess fire wood, pools, spas, fences of any kind, etc. Items that are permitted include: barbeques, bikes, lawn chairs, and camping related equipment. It is at the discretion of the Park Staff to determine whether or not a campsite is in compliance.
ELECTRIC VEHICLE/GOLF CART USE
Electric vehicles and/or golf carts within the Park boundaries shall strictly obey all state and local vehicle operation statues, codes, and regulations; shall only operate on designated roadways; and shall obey all of the rules listed above. The operators an and electric cart and/or golf cart within the Park boundaries must possess a valid driver's license. Golf carts and other approved utility vehicles must be registered and paid for at the Park Office.
FIREARMS/EXPLOSIVES/PROJECTILES
Visitors shall not possess or discharge any firearms, weapons, fireworks, or any other article of explosive nature within the Park.
FIRES
Ground fires are not allowed anywhere in the Park. Campfires are permitted only in containers approved or provided by Park Staff in designated areas. Campfires are prohibited in Mulberry Loop. No fires after 10:00 PM. Guests are welcome to use the community fire ring located in the Lakeshore camping loop.
FISHING
Fishing is permitted in the Day Use Park during the posted Park hours with a Day Use Fishing Permit. Registered campers may fish Lakes 6 & 7 from sunrise to sunset with a Day Use Fishing Permit and from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM with a Night Fishing Permit. Night fishing is limited to registered campers only and is only permitted in Lakes 6 & 7. Lakes 6 & 7 are for registered campers only. Fishing Permits may be purchased at the General Store. California State Fishing License is not required. Lakes are stocked regularly. A fish cleaning station is located at Lake 4. Pleas do not clean fish in the restrooms.
Santee Lakes cannot accept camper mail of any kind.
PETS
Pets are welcome in the Campground, but must be registered and paid for at the Park Office. There is a limit of three pets per campsite. All pets must be kept on a maximum six-foot leash and wear a valid license at all times. Pet cages/crates and dog runs/fences are prohibited. Vicious and/or noisy pets are not allowed. When leaving your campsite, your pet must accompany your or be confined inside your Camping Unit. Pets must not be left outside at night. Pets are not allowed in the Day Use Park. Health laws prohibit pets from entering the pool area or going inside any building. Please clean up after your pet immediately. Coyotes are active at Santee Lakes. Please keeps pets on leash and accompanies at all times.
QUIET TIME
Quiet time is observed between the hours of 9:00 PM and 8:00 AM. During quiet time, loud talking, music, and other disturbing activities are not allowed. Minors under the age of eighteen not accompanies by and adult are required to be at their campsite by 9:00 PM. The use of generators is not permitted at any time.
TENT CAMPING
Ten camping is allowed in designated sites only. One tent per campsite is permitted in designated tent sites. The maximum stay for tent campers is two weeks in a twelve-month period. Tents may not be used for storage. Makeshift tents and clotheslines are not allowed.
VEHICLE SPEED LIMIT
Visitors shall not operate any vehicle within Santee Lakes Recreation Preserve at a speed in excess of the posted speed limit.
VENDORS
All Park users must utilize service vendors from the Park's Approved Vendor List.
WADING OR SWIMMING
Visitors shall not swim or wade in any lake, pond, or stream within the Park.
WASHING AND/OR REPAIRING CAMPING UNIT OR VEHICLES
Washing and/or repairing vehicles is not allowed at this facility. Self-serve car washes are available nearby.
NOTICE TO VACATE
Campers who fail to comply with the District's Rules and Regulations and/or are delinquent in Campground fees are subject to Vacating/Eviction procedures. Recreational vehicles may be removed from the premises for failure to pay for occupancy or failure to comply with the rules and regulations.
