Enjoy wildlife and bird watching, hiking and bike riding, peace and quiet or blast your music, make noise and have a "responsible" party. There are no neighbors to bother and no sound ordinances. The private property is connected to Forest Service roads and trail system where you can ride, directly from camp, your ATV, bikes and 4X4's. Be aware of poison oak and potential hazards with wildlife you may encounter. There is lots of wildlife moving through the free range canyon, seasonal and year round critters. Most common is deer, birds, rabbits, squirrels, lizards and skunks. Bears, lions, bobcats, coyotes are uncommon, have never been an issue, but they live in the woods too and mostly avoid being seen.

A hose to the camp site with potable well water is available, however, its mostly for emergency use and the current water situation may require strict conservation, depending on the time and season. Potable water is also provided and dispensed in a proper sanitary container. Consult with the camp keeper directly for the status and situation with water, smoke and fires. No fires allowed during red flag and PSPS events. A gas BBQ can be made available. Plenty of free firewood is provided and available to scavenge.

The Scenic South Yuba River, trails, mountain lakes, including Lake Tahoe, and streams are accessible for free public use in nearby State Parks, Recreational areas and the Plumas and Tahoe National Forests. Enjoy wine tasting at several local Nevada County wineries or at their tasting rooms and watering holes in the historic old mining towns of Grass Valley and Nevada City. Tour the museums and search out the relics of bygone days of the Gold Rush and the once thriving mining industry. Lots of access to nearby fun local places from golf courses to ski resorts to casinos, in addition to the wonders and solitude of nature, spectacular star gazing and just camping out with a good book and company. It can be hot, dry and dusty during the late summer doldrums. Spend the day at a river or lake and enjoy the secure, private camp at night. Abundant shade from the trees and a gentle afternoon breeze helps keep things comfortable around camp in the hot afternoons and evenings.

The South Yuba River, American River and many lakes and streams are within a 1 hour, or less, drive, including Lakes Basin, the Sierra Buttes, and Downieville bike trails. Camp can be used as a base for numerous epic well known mountain bike trails accessed along HWY 20 (Hoot trail and others)
