Soaring View of Hudson Valley from Gorgeous Ridge on Farm - Direct Access to Empire Rail Trail - Fishing and boating on our Pond! Private hiking or walk to Appalachian Trail! Only 90 minutes from NYC! Breathtaking views from the highest point on our farm. Enjoy the stars at night and sweeping view of hills and valley directly from your tent site. Access your site directly and privately from the main road via a tractor entrance. You can park at the bottom of the ridge and walk only 2-3 minutes up the mowed path to your private tent site, under the shade of many beautiful large trees. 4-wheel drive vehicles can park directly at site. You can also arrive via the Empire Rail Trail bike path! We have a direct private entrance to the farm from the trail with a locked gate. Be aware that much of the farm is in a valley between two ridges -- the bike path is halfway up one ridge, and the tent site is all the way up on the opposite ridge. Getting to the site from the bike path requires walking around and UP via a mowed grassy path. If you have questions, send me a message and I'll be happy to give you more information. The pond has a dock for fishing. There is a seasonal babbling brook (Flatrock Brook) that runs through the farm. Follow the mowed path down and around the 100 acres to access the pond. Farm is filled with wildlife, including species in our protected wetlands. You may see turtles, frogs, bunnies, monarch butterflies, rabbits, deer, wild turkeys, herons, hawks, trout, and every kind of songbird you can imagine. We will provide you with a map for short scenic hiking around the property, as well as maps to fantastic local hiking spots (including several entrances to the Appalachian Trail!) Tons to do in the local area, including breweries, cideries, orchards, restaurants, museums, Stormville Flea Market, and beautiful parks. We will provide a binder full of recommendations and ideas!*Note: this is a working farm and is adjacent to another working farm. Both farms grow hay. There are times of year when tractors and hay carts will be audible during the day. You may be able to hear a rooster in the distance. This is a natural environment and you may encounter normal outdoor bugs and critters like chipmunks, squirrels, mosquitoes, flies, spiders, etc. You may find bear or coyote poop in the middle of the trail.
