Maple Creek Recreation Area is part of the original Maple Creek Watershed project. In 2000, the Village Board of Leigh requested that the LENRD reconsider this structure. Feasibility studies by Olsson Associates were favorable and funding was obtained from Nebraska Department of Natural Resources Development Fund (NRDF), Motorboat Access Fund through Game & Parks Commission and Nebraska Department of Roads for Highway 91.

Policies
Hydrants available for water throughout the year. The shower houses is closed from October 15 to May 1st. Outhouses are available.
Showers are coin operated.
Dump station in Village of Leigh.
All handicap spots are reservable.
All tenting spots are first-come, first-served.
Minimum stay for Memorial, Labor Day and other Holiday weekends will be Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
All other weekends will have a minimum stay of 2 days (Friday and Saturday).
Check in is 4:00 p.m. Check out is 2:00 p.m.
Maximum stay at any spot in the park is 14 days.

Vehicles are allowed on the roadways and parking areas only.
Alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
Swimming permitted in designated area only.
Pets are prohibited on the swimming beach.
Fires are allowed only in fire pits and grills.
Operation of snowmobiles is prohibited.
Camping is limited to 14 consecutive days.
Quiet shall be maintained between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. in the camper pad area.
Swimming beach is closed between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.
