Let us tell you more

Official Tentrr site. Tentrr is a trusted partner of BookOutdoors. This UPSCALE Backcountry Site is worth the price. Not a simple Backcountry site, we supply many comforts to help you lighten your pack for the hike up to the site. See the list in the site guidelines. The secluded ridge top site in Bald Eagle Valley is at the edge of a 6 acre Golden Winged Warbler habitat improvement cut providing open woodland at the site surrounded by heavy forest. Hike to site (conditions permitting with 4 or all wheel drive and good tires). Drive includes fording a usually dry stream bed, climbing 500' in 6/10 of a mile with some 45 degree steep areas and some fairly level.

We will tarp a tent site so that it is dry on your arrival, even if it rains the night before. There are abundant forest bird watching opportunities. Nearby Bald Eagle State Park offers boating, fishing, hiking, swim beach, playground and aquatic bird watching including nesting bald eagles and osprey. The area has an abundance of wild and stocked trout streams (Spring Creek, Fishing Creek, Black Moshannon, Marsh Creek, etc.) as well as warm water fisheries including the lake in Bald Eagle Park. Kayak and canoe trips from Spring Creek in Bellefonte to the Foster Joseph Sayers lake in Bald Eagle State Park are available from a local outfitter. The DCNR Bloody Skillet ATV trail is 11 miles travel west. Elk watching in Benezette is an hour west with many elk closer. Victorian Bellefonte and Lock Haven are minutes away. There is a great nearby Amish produce farm and Deli for fresh local food.

Two miles away in Howard are a Brothers Pizza and the Kitchen Witch Cafe as well as a Uni-Mart convenience store with gasoline and several bait shops. Hike on the 210 acre property or extend your hike into the 5,278 acre adjacent game lands. Enjoy views of Bald Eagle Ridge, the Allegheny Front and north up the Bald Eagle Valley. Enjoy ridge top breezes and total privacy. ATVs welcome for site access but general riding is off property on nearby DCNR Bloody Skillet Trail or the Snow Shoe Rail Trail. Firewood and starters provided for your stay.
