    Our "ranch" is just a piece of raw desert that we have painstakingly transformed into a working, off-grid poultry farm over the last thirteen years. We pride ourselves on being able to showcase a huge variety of sustainable/off-grid/one planet lifestyle innovations.New in 2022 is our desert wetlands. We have dammed our 12-acre arroyo, which has created a reservoir of water for many months after even a small rain event. Local wildlife flocks to this area in the evenings, as do migratory birds. When there is sufficient water, guests may enjoy wading and swimming in a part of the lake as well.You can stay here and be by yourself on one of the 33 campsites, in one of the guest rooms, or you may choose to interact with us as we tend our animals and work on various sustainability projects. We operate the ranch as the: Eco-Ranch Sustainable Living Educational Center and offer the opportunity to learn everything involved in successfully living off the grid and within a "one planet lifestyle".We are surrounded on three sides by Big Bend National Park & Big Bend Ranch State Park. Our view has beautiful mountains in the distance, bet offers a 360 degree view of our unmatched night sky.This is, with the exception of occasional crowing roosters, a quiet place of unspoiled beauty where one can contemplate life uninterrupted, or log into a favorite web site using our free WIFI. But we think you will leave the INTERNET at home and enjoy the desert!

    Rules & regulations

    As stated, this is also a working poultry & goat farm and we have to attend to our farm as our first priority. This requires our attention in the early morning and into the evening. We STRONGLY URGE CAMPERS TO ARRIVE BEFORE DARK!!!

    However, we realize that many people have time management issues and have made some allowance for the rare late arrival. So if you plan on leaving home late and arriving here late, you will need to contact us for instructions. You will also need to select a site on arrival in the "upper campground", nearest the bathhouse, so you do not disturb other campers.

    Our entire property is a NO FIREARMS ZONE. We DO NOT allow firearms (or fireworks) on the property and NO ONE may carry one on their person while on our property. (If you insist on having a firearm with you, just lock it IN YOUR VEHICLE when on the property!!!!)
