Let us tell you more

Desolation Hotel Hope Valley isn’t like most resorts. Sitting on 165 acres of lush meadow and nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains, the property has a history that goes back centuries. Initially cared for by the native Washoe tribe, colonized by the Mormons, purchased at the turn of the century, and then over time turned into a place where weary travelers could rest and recharge, the resort now known as Desolation Hotel Hope Valley has been a welcome hideaway for more than a century.

Recently renovated to inject more vibrance into what was already a beloved yet homely resort, outdoor enthusiasts and long-time patrons alike appreciate the authentic rustic yet luxurious experience DH provides for travelers interested in going remote. Featuring camping accommodations that run the gamut and restored, historic cabins that feature modern amenities like gas fireplaces, well-appointed kitchens, sophisticated linens and access to the refined on-site restaurant, guests are charmed by the homespun yet polished dynamic. This one-of-a-kind experience inspires guests to get out and explore the beauty that surrounds, while also encouraging them to slow down, take a load off, and treat themselves to the simple luxuries our resort provides.
