Our location is located off County Road 742, down the road from the newly paved Cottonwood Pass, which is just 18 minutes to Crested Butte and 18 minutes to Gunnison. Taylor Canyon is home to some of the most iconic views in the Central Rockies, abundant recreational pursuits and outstanding access to nearby communities. We can’t wait for you to experience Taylor River camping at its finest!

Get ready to camp in rustic comfort at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor. All of our campsites are walk-in and tent-only, which means no RV’s allowed. This saves you from sleeping beside noisy generators, idling vehicles and slamming car doors each night. Each campsite is just a short walk from your vehicle, water and bathroom to offer a “dispersed camping Colorado feeling” without the hassle! The canyon is home to some of the most iconic views in the Central Rockies, abundant recreational pursuits, and outstanding access to nearby communities.

Cancellation Policy:

  • You may cancel your reservation at any time. Please refer to our refund policies to determine what extent you will be reimbursed you for your booking. 
  • Early departures or no-shows will be charged at the full applicable rate.
  • Cold or inclement weather will not trigger a refund, unless conditions are determined to be unsafe by Campfire Ranch. 

Refund Policy:

  • You may book your stay at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor at a maximum of 14 days in advance of your arrival date. Group bookings of 3 campsites or more can be made up to 180 days of your arrival date.
  • Cancellations outside of 7 days from your arrival date will be refunded at 100% of your booking cost.
  • Cancellations within 7 days of your arrival date will be refunded at 50% of your booking cost. 
  • Cancellations within 24 hours of check-in time are non-refundable. 
  • Cancellations after check-in are non-refundable. 

Event Refund Policy:

  • Cancellations for the event space or event campsites made outside of 30 days from your arrival date will be refunded at 100% of your booking cost. 
  • Cancellations for the event space or event campsites made outside of 14 days from your arrival date will be refunded at 50% of your booking cost.
  • Cancellations for the event space of event campsites made within 14 days from your arrival date are non-refundable.
  • Cancellations after check-in are non-refundable.

Rules & regulations

While Campfire Ranch is committed to creating a safe, comfortable and enjoyable experience, YOUR behavior determines the experience for yourself and others around you. We welcome your help in our efforts! Below you’ll find a complete list of our Rules & Regulations during your stay:

General Rules:

  • You must be 18+ to book at Campfire Ranch on the Taylor.
  • Minors are allowed if accompanied by an adult in their party during their entire stay.
  • Children under the age of 12 must be in the company of and supervised by adults at all times. 

At check-in, all guest must: present identification confirm or provide contact information

  • Campers consuming alcohol may be asked to show their ID at any time.
  • All campers must vacate their site by 11am on the day of checkout.
  • The maximum allowed tent size is 12’x12’ - no multi-room tents are allowed.
  • Campfire Ranch is not responsible for any lost or stolen personal items. Staff is onsite daily and overnight, but we do leave camp for errands occasionally.
  • Use of all cooking devices, stoves, burners and grills must be supervised at all times while in operation.
  • Campfires are permitted unless otherwise informed by Campfire Ranch staff. When not attended, campfires must be fully extinguished with water and cool to the touch.
  • Any campers in possession or using prohibited items forfeit their reservation and will be ejected from Campfire Ranch on the Taylor. No refunds will be issued for forfeited reservations.
  • Any campers engaged in unacceptable behavior forfeit their reservation and will be ejected from Campfire Ranch. No refunds will be issued for forfeited reservations.
  • Any confiscated prohibited items at check-in will not be returned – do not bring prohibited items!
  • Questions or concerns can be presented to Campfire Ranch staff at any time during your stay.
  • All Campfire Ranch rules are subject to change at any time.

Unacceptable Behavior:

  • Irresponsible use of alcohol
  • Smoking of any kind outside of your campsite or when a fire ban is in place.
  • Public nudity or lewd behavior.
  • Accessing any restricted or staff only areas.
  • Taunting, bullying, abusive or disruptive language, and/or obscene gestures.
  • Littering.
  • Failing to comply or cooperate with Campfire Ranch staff, City of Gunnison staff or police.
  • Unsupervised children and children unable to follow rules or directions by Campfire Ranch staff.
  • Extending site footprint outside of designated boundaries or into public pathways, parking, fire lanes or access areas.
  • Relieving your bladder or bowels anywhere other than approved restrooms.
  • Fighting or engaging in any action or activity that may harm, endanger, threaten or bring discomfort to staff, campers, visitors, vendors or members of the public.
  • Publicly visible sexual behavior.
  • Possession/use of illegal drugs or marijuana.
  • Damage, destruction, vandalism or theft of any property.
  • Climbing or hanging from any Campfire Ranch structures or equipment.
  • Use of the Campfire Ranch logos, marks, or artwork without written permission.
  • Dogs off leash or poorly behaving.
  • Operation of motorized vehicles off designated roadways.

Prohibited Items:

  • Large speaker systems – personal sized speakers only please.
  • Air horns
  • Amplified instruments
  • Butane torches or excessive flame elements
  • Fireworks
  • Drones
  • Tarps or other non-free-standing shade structures
  • Tents larger than 12’x12’
  • Confetti of any kind
  • Sillystring or other aerosol spray decorations
  • Drugs or drug paraphernalia
  • Gas powered generators (solar okay)
  • Glass bottles of any kind
  • Helium balloons
  • No glass mirrors. Small plastic mirrors are okay.
  • Promotional messages including but not limited to banners, flyers, branding, flags.
  • Spray paint
  • Firearms, pepper spray or any other weapons. Firearms used for hunting or target shooting must be kept in your vehicle at all times.
  • Vending of food, goods or services of any kind
  • Pack animals of any kind.
