Base Camp at Golden Gate Canyon is a family owned campground located between Black Hawk and Golden, Colorado.   The park was originally built in 1969.

We are the third owners of this park and began our journey on May 1, 2014.  When we acquired the property, it was in need of some major TLC.  We immediately began making improvements.  The store was gutted and remodeled within the first three weeks of business.  We have expanded grocery services.  The liquor store used to be in an old shed outside the main building.  During the main building remodel, we were able to move Pickle Liquors inside. The laundry room was gutted, moved and expanded. A sink was installed so guests have a place to wash their dishes.  We have added gravel to the sites and the roads were resurfaced with recycled asphalt.  The old, non-operational swimming pool was removed and in the summer of 2017 a pavilion was built for your enjoyment. Horseshoe pits were installed on the property.  In the fall of 2017, we were finally able to bring gas services back for your convenience.  We now sell unleaded and diesel.

As we continue to make improvements, please understand that this is an old park and the sites may not be as spacious or level as you might find in a newly built park.

No refunds for early departures. Camping is an outdoor experience. We do not give refunds due to the whims of Mother Nature.-If you cancel seven or more days prior to your arrival date, a service charge of $15.00 plus 2.9% state sales tax ($15.45 total) will be charged. The balance of your deposit will be refunded.

If you cancel six days or less of your arrival date no refunds will be given. 2 p.m. will be the time used to determine cancellation date. 

No refunds for no shows. Management reserves the right to re-book your site if you fail to let us know you will not be arriving by 8 p.m. mountain time on your scheduled check-in date.

Rules & regulations

We want you to have a good time, but please be respectful of other campers. Avoid screaming, loud music and loud voices.

Water to RV sites and dump station are closed during off season. Exact dates are dependent upon first/last freeze of the season. Fresh water during off season is available at the main building.

If you intend to arrive before 2 p.m., please notify our office and we will make every effort to have your cabin/site available, however, we cannot guarantee its availability until 2 p.m. We ask that you honor our Check-Out time promptly to minimize hardship on our housekeeping staff and the next guests arriving and to avoid a late check-out fee.

Please observe our speed limit of 5 MPH to ensure the safety of our guests. Remember children are playing!

2 night minimum on all weekend stays that include a Friday or Saturday night from Memorial Day to Labor Day.

It is your responsibility to review and follow the rules. Your reservation payment constitutes your acceptance of these rules. Management reserves the right to charge the stated violation fees and/or eject any party from the campground without a refund for violation of any of these rules.

Fee: Late Checkout $5.00/hr. until 1 p.m. Late checkout is permitted with prior approval only, based upon availability of site. Failure to vacate your site by 1 p.m. may result in tow and/or removal of personal items at responsible party's expense.

Fee: Dump Fee for Non-Guests $35.00

Fee: Replacement Key $25.00

Fee: Excessive Trash or Broken Glass $25.00

Fee: Smoking Violation $200.00

Management reserves the right to charge actual costs plus a service charge for property damage.
